I’s so long since I had one of those cosmetic consultations – I have ever really felt comfortable sitting in a swivel chair with hair clipped back and a bib on right in the middle of the big department store’s make up and beauty section. Lots of folk go past and stare – sometimes having a bit of a giggle whilst they do. My experience is that the consultant is as old as the hills and wears far too much face make up, rouge and mascara – oh and the lippy. This puts me off rather a lot. If this person can’t see how ghastly she looks, how is she going to stop making me look as bad? I have a small face, eyes are hidden behind rather thick lenses and on the whole I’m very happy with the basic but trusted make up routine I have perfected over the last 50 years.
